Sports Council Executive Director to pass the torch

by Carly 2. June 2011 22:37

The Board of Directors of the Augusta Sports Council has announced that after a successful 18 year partnership, Executive Director Tammy Stout has announced her resignation and will be leaving Augusta.

“The Augusta Sports Council has become the perfect economic engine to fuel this community, states Stout. “Our foundation is solid, the return on investment is striking, and I have no reservations that group sports travel will continue to grow for Augusta in the years to come. The average event size for 2010 was nearly 1,000 athletes with an economic impact of $13 million. Having served on the board of the National Association of Sports Commissions for most of the last ten years, I know our programs rival the best in the country.”

Stout’s history with the Augusta Sports Council goes back to the very beginning. Previous event and sales experience made her a natural choice to direct the first national events contracted for Augusta from 1992-1995.  In the spring of 1995, Stout then accepted the position to lead the young organization full-time.

Under her leadership, the organization has grown 400% with a resume of nearly 500 events that have come and gone leaving behind some impressive revenues for the community. Event owners from across the state and the country know client service and fiscal accountability have always been priorities for Stout in negotiating the most beneficial event partnerships. Augusta was put on the map with NCAA coaches and universities with the launch of the nationally-recognized Ray Guy Award in 2000. Stout created the award with a broadcast partnership with ESPN that still happens each December. Sport agencies such as USA Boxing, USA Cycling, Ironman and B.A.S.S., represent the caliber of clients that have become trusted partners over the last 18 years.
