Celebrity Bridge Teacher to Host Workshop

Local seminar to benefit CSRA Junior Bridge League

Augusta, Georgia (May 9, 2011) - Jerry Helms, celebrity bridge teacher, will conduct a workshop in Augusta on Monday, May 16 at Social, Inc. on Washington Rd. All proceeds benefit the CSRA Junior Bridge League. “No Trumps: Strategy and Play” will be Jerry’s subject.

The seminar will be held at Social, Inc., 3157 Washington Road from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM at a cost of $125 including lunch. Since the CSRA Junior Bridge League is a tax exempt 501(C)(3) organization, a portion of that cost is  tax deductible.

Teaching bridge to young people has become a nationwide effort as studies have shown that learning bridge enhances analytic skills, helps improve academic performance, and fosters social interaction while students develop self-reliance, and build trust and confidence with a partner. Bridge students have shown improved math, reading, logic, and comprehension skills. In addition, students’ short term memory retention has increased. Warren Buffett and Bill Gates are two of the games’ biggest fans.

Jerry Helms has donated his time and expertise to Junior Bridge fundraising events across America. He is a dedicated bridge teacher who, during his tenure with the teachers’ accreditation program, has certified over 2000 teachers for the American Contract Bridge League. Jerry has amassed over 18,000 Master points and appears consistently on the top 500 list of the American Contract Bridge League.

The CSRA Junior Bridge League was founded in 2009 by Ray Coleman, Director of the CSRA Bridge Club. Ray and other dedicated volunteers are bringing the stimulating game of bridge to a new generation of eager learners.

Information about bridge, Junior Bridge, or reservations for the Jerry Helms Seminar can be obtained from csrabridge@yahoo.com.
