Recognizing Excellence

The Augusta Sports Council honors athletes of all abilities at the local, state and national levels through a series of events and awards each year.

Area high school and adult athletes in numerous sports are honored each May at our Sports Awards Gala through the Greater Augusta Medals for Excellence in Sports (G.A.M.E.S.) awards program. Click here to download a G.A.M.E.S. Award nomination form.  The 2011 G.A.M.E.S. Awards banquet will be held on May 18, 2011 with special guest speaker College Football Hall of Fame Coach Bobby Bowden.  This year's banquet sponsors are The Augusta Chronicle, Coca Cola, and Georgia Bank & Trust.

Each January, ASC partners with The Augusta Chronicle and WRDW News 12 to host the All-Area Football Banquet. At this event, ASC presents the High School Punter of the Year Award and honors the winner of the Ray Guy Award, presented annually by the ASC to the nation’s most outstanding college punter. The event also includes induction ceremonies for the American Football Kicking Hall of Fame.
